Rookada Heritage Villa is a tribute to the classic colonial architecture that echoes through this part of the island. With an elegant exterior fringed by carved fretwork, triangular tiled roofs, shuttered windows and stuccoed white columns it gives guests a glance in to the grandeur of the past. The interior boasts of a modern contemporary take on an old school Singhalese house of distinction or “Wallawa”.

Located in the tropical city of Ambalangoda, the Rookada Heritage Villa is nestled between the bustling city (just 200 meters from the beach) and the scenic Madhu River. The property is fringed by a sprawling wild mangrove forest leading to the river that plays host to an abundance of exotic birdlife. This geography allows for the guests of the Rookada Heritage Villa to enjoy breathtakingly scenic views.

The property began life as the family home of C.W.W. Kannagara, who’s significant achievements in the areas of politics, law and education have led him to being commonly referred to as the Father of Free Education in Sri Lanka.
